One-stop shop for spa breaks in Ireland

One-stop shop for spa breaks in Ireland - A young Irish entrepreneur has launched a new website that she hopes will become a one-stop shop for people using spas in Ireland.

Alison Bell is behind SpaIreland.com, an independent site that provides information and booking services for about 25 spas and 1,400 treatments. Bell, who has worked in the tourism and leisure sectors in Ireland and abroad, said the concept was born when she decided to take a spa break.

Despite the growth in the spa sector, she was struck by the limited information available to potential spa goers and decided to set up the website.

‘‘We want it to become the site of choice for people considering a spa break in Ireland,” she said. ‘‘Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that in the second quarter of 2007, internet bookings of domestic trips increased by 60 per cent compared to the same time last year.”
Bell charges commission on bookings that are made through the site. However, she said that users ‘‘are guaranteed that they will get the best available rate, as we provide all the information and make the bookings for clients’’.
